About Our Program

“ The vision of Mistwood Montessori School is to provide a respectful, safe and nurturing learning environment. It is our mission to help children develop a love of learning, and to become caring citizens. Our staff is committed to providing a community of support and partnership for our students, their families, and each other."

Mistwood Montessori School offers a traditional Montessori primary program, based on a three year cycle, for children ages approximately 3-6. This three year cycle includes the Kindergarten year. The teachers and staff at Mistwood Montessori can help you to determine if your child is ready for our classrooms. Children must be potty trained in order to be ready for our classroom environment. We do not accept students for the Kindergarten year without prior Montessori experience.

Our program proudly supplements the experience of all of our students with weekly music and second language programs, featuring curriculum tailored to the age group. In addition, our Kindergarten program offers a weekly science workshop and a yearly holiday music performance. Kindergarten students also participate in a weekly drawing and art class, where they can refine their fine motor skills while being exposed to design concepts such as lines, shading, and negative space.

We invite you to visit our school. Please call for an appointment. We ask that your first visit be without your child, so that you can give your undivided attention to observing the classrooms and talking with the directors. We then encourage you to return for a visit with your child.

In order to be placed on our waiting list, you must return the application, the questionnaire and the application fee. You'll find downloadable versions of these forms on the "Application & Resources" page of this site, as well as clear directions to help you place your child on our waiting list.

We look forward to meeting you and showing you our school!
